System Specialist- Manufacturing (Engineering)



Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and process-driven System Specialist to support, improve, and help design new business processes that power our fast-paced manufacturing and distribution operations. This role sits at the intersection of Technology and Operationsowning the day-to-day performance, reliability, and enhancement of systems used in production, labeling, inventory control, and quality assurance. Youll work directly on the production floor and in our warehouses to ensure smooth operations, identify opportunities, drive process innovation, and deliver technical solutions that help our teams work smarter and faster.

Familiarity with the unique business processes and operational needs of seafood and meat distribution facilities is highly desirable. This includes understanding of catchweight handling, USDA/QA compliance workflows, temperature-sensitive environments, and variable unit costing.

Responsibilities
Create, document, and implement new operational workflows that improve efficiency, accuracy, and system integration across manufacturing and distribution teams.Own and support operational systems used across manufacturing, production, and warehouse environmentsincluding labeling, WMS, MES, and ERP interfaces.Troubleshoot and resolve frontline system issues quickly to minimize downtime and prevent production delays.Identify root causes of recurring system and process problems and implement sustainable solutions.Design and improve workflows involving catchweight product scanning, unit conversions, and real-time label printing.Collaborate with Production, QA, and IT to streamline key business processes using automation, scripting, or configuration changes.Partner with vendors and internal developers to implement new tools or enhancements to existing systems.Provide training and documentation to frontline users and supervisors on new systems, upgrades, and best practices.Participate in system testing, UAT, and go-lives for new process rollouts, especially during peak production hours.

Requirements and Skills
25 years of experience supporting operations or systems in a manufacturing, distribution, or food production environment.Familiarity with operational and compliance processes in seafood and meat distribution, including USDA labeling, QA checkpoints, and traceability.Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware (printers, scanners, mobile devices) and software (WMS, MES, ERP).Experience working with catchweight and variable unit conversions in production workflows.Exposure to systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Ortec, RF-SMART, or similar platforms is a plus.Understanding of lot traceability and production labeling systems.Excellent communication skills; comfortable working on the production floor with cross-functional teams.Ability to work flexible shifts and respond to critical issues during off-hours if needed.

Preferred Skills
Knowledge of SQL, Excel (Power Query), or scripting tools for process automation.Experience in cold chain operations or perishable goods manufacturing.Prior exposure to Lean/Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
