Assistant Director (Finance)
Reporting to the AVP, Immigration Compliance in the Office of International Services (OIS), the Assistant Director is a leading member of a team that works to achieve the university's global mission. The Associate Director manages and supervises the New Student Team to ensure consistent, success-based service is provided to incoming students and scholars; analyzes data to strategically allocate personnel for efficient production of immigration documents; is the main office contact with admission offices; provides guidance and training to university personnel on the immigration process for new students and sponsoring visiting scholars; and works with university personnel on onboarding.Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience. Experience as designated school official in SEVIS
Preferred Qualifications
• 3 to 5 years-experience in an international student's office advising F-1/J-1 international students on immigration matters.
• Advanced working knowledge of F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations, SEVIS and Department of State regulations
• Exposure to international education living in a different country, working or studying in a different country, or working with international students
• Experience with software for batching to SEVIS; such as SUNAPSIS and experience with university student database such as OASIS Banner.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

Analyzes data for strategic allocation of personnel for efficient production of immigration documents and reaching established deadlines. Work closely with the Technical Team to recommend improvements to workflow, eforms, and checklists; serves as the main office liaison with university admission offices to handle difficult cases, emergencies, questions from third party providers, and one-off changes. Maintain office standard operation procedures connected to new student eforms, checklist, alerts, tasks, and workflow. Serves as a SEVIS Designated School Official and Alternative Responsible Officer.
Provides guidance and training to university departments on the immigration process for new students and scholars and seeks continual enhancements to procedures; this includes but not limited to attending departmental meetings, creating handouts on basic immigration topics, and providing workshops. Attend Yield Team meetings. Works with university units and personnel charged with orientation, new student activities and procedures for new students to develop on-boarding strategies and pre-arrival services. This includes contributing to Scholar Success and Homebase. Ensure OIS website is up to date with regard to resources connected to pre-arrival, orientation, immigration check in, and other resources for student and scholar success.
Coordination of communication to new students and new visiting scholars via eform, automatic emails, and website. Continually review and update communication to provide important information about immigration, visa acquisition, university on-boarding procedures, and pre-arrival information. Manage the Immigration Check In including scheduling of dates each semester, scheduling onboarding sessions, handling communication with late arrivals, and tracking completion of the process. Ensure initial I-20's cancelled within SEVIS deadlines, student and scholar records (DS-2019's) are deferred in a timely manner.
In conjunction with the Responsible Officer for the university's J program, evaluate current and new laws and regulations governing international students/scholars and develop policies and procedures relevant to incoming students/scholars. Stay up to date and current on all U.S. immigration laws, regulations, policies and procedures that affect all aspects of students and scholars stay at USF, including academic, financial, employment, medical and mental health, acclimation to the U.S. culture and USF environment and any other personal or professional challenges that arise while studying in the USA. Contributes to the Exchange Visitor (J-1) Annual Report.
Participate in professional organizations focused on immigration regulations and other matters affecting the stay of international students and scholars in the U.S such as NAFSA: Association of International Educators. Regularly present best practices at state, regional, and national conferences and meetings.
