Position: Summer Laborer

Shift: Monday-Friday 8am to 4pm

Pay: $15.79

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Performs general clean-up and plant housekeeping duties using a shovel, broom, chipping hammer, pavement breaker and other assorted hand tools.
  • Performs cleaning of plant equipment, buildings, properties and grounds; including the following but not limited to building floors belt conveyors among other equipment.
  • Fill in as needed and performs other duties as assigned by the seasonal project manager.
  • Responsible for recording and maintaining documentation associated with job-related activity.
  • Assists in plant repair projects and keeps work areas and equipment clean and orderly.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate, and able to show proof of acceptance to an accredited 2- or 4-year college or technical institution.
  • For those previously enrolled in an accredited institution, must show documentation of having passed at least 24 credit hours of classes within the past two semesters; must have an average GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Able to pass post offer drug screen and physical abilities test
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided
  • Ability to operate a shovel, wheelbarrow, forklift, bobcat, pickup truck, jackhammer, weed eater, hand power tools, etc.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to walk over rough surfaces, climb ladders, climb stairs, bend, push, pull, work in awkward positions, perform work in confined spaces, and lift materials up to 100 lbs.

What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
