JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Cellar Supervisor is responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives and overseeing daily cellar operations at our winery. This role is critical in ensuring that all cellar activities align with winemaking goals, safety standards, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in process optimization, team leadership, and winery operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all cellar processes.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SOPs and improvement initiatives, adjusting as needed to meet production and winemaking objectives.
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate daily cellar operations across all shifts to ensure timely execution of work orders.
  • Direct and support the Winery Operations Coordinator and Inventory Specialist in planning and executing cellar workflows and inventory tasks.
  • Monitor progress of daily work orders and communicate effectively with winemaking and production teams to adjust priorities as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training and cross-training for cellar staff on equipment use, safety protocols, and winemaking procedures.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure all cellar activities comply with SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and winery safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including work orders, sanitation logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Support bottling and harvest activities by coordinating labor, materials, and scheduling with relevant departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Enology, Viticulture, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in winery operations, cellar supervision, or process improvement roles.
  • Strong knowledge of winemaking processes, cellar equipment, and safety standards.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing SOPs and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, process mapping, and ERP systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience with harvest and bottling operations in a commercial winery.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in a production environment.
  • Working environment is both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to related equipment and noise levels.

COMPENSATION

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $80,000 - $120,000.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities, education, and other position-related factors.
