Senior IT Network & Telecommunications Engineer (Structured Cabling) (Finance)

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior IT Network & Telecommunications Engineer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and planning management and administration of technology as well as ensuring technology is effectively supporting enterprise systems.

Essential Functions

• Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin's network and telecommunications systems
• Performs and evaluates costs analyses and vendor comparisons form small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations
• Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
• Provides 24x7 on-call support
• Continuously develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging network & telecommunications systems and other network & telecommunications technologies
• Communicates effectively regarding system operations and environment changes in a cross-functional setting with business partners as well at non-technical associates
• Adheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
• Understands and avoids capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of network & telecommunications systems
• Ensures that all security requirements are met or exceeded and plans and performs major version upgrades
• Provides technical input to solution development plans and concept documents and documents technical designs and procedures for team library
• Demonstrates understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutions
• Shares knowledge and actively mentors less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1 & 2)
• Designs and implements effective monitoring of enterprise systems
• Tunes systems using experience and deep knowledge of area
• Foresees risks and communicates and mitigates those before problems arise
• Plans and manages technical projects involving other teams
• Recognizes and understands technology impacts within the business and contributes to technical research on new technologies, processes, or procedures

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Install, terminate, and test low voltage wiring for systems including voice/data, CCTV, access control, fire alarms, intercoms, and A/V.
• Manage project resources and timelines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Maintain and troubleshoot existing low voltage systems.
• Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and national codes and regulations.
• Perform inspections and testing on low voltage systems to ensure functionality and safety.
• Document service and installation activities accurately and completely.
• Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and supervisors regarding project status and issues.
• Follow company safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
