Associate Fiber Engineer (Architecture)



Position Title: Associate Fiber Engineer (T3)

Role

The Fiber Engineering groups are regional or district-based teams. Projects requiring Fiber Designs include new customers' service orders and network enhancement or repairs. The Associate Fiber Engineer is an apprenticeship role that supports the fiber engineering department with creating GIS route maps, keeping accurate records, and troubleshooting network issues with fiber splicers according to Crown Castle standards.  This position will be subject to on-call, shift duties, weekends, and holiday work rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Kick-Off meetings to support Fiber Engineers with route designs for lateral cables, riser cables and termination ports, and creation of all necessary splicing prints and work orders for splicing vendors
  • Obtain circuit identifiers for Fiber Engineers
  • Provide fiber assignments to construction teams for lateral fibers to last demark panel
  • Develop proficiency analyzing fiber test results, including but not limited to optical-time domain reflector (OTDR), chromatic dispersion/polarization mode dispersion (CD/PMD), and optical spectrum analyzer (OSA), to ensure adherence to all Crown Castle and/or manufacturer's specifications
  • Develop proficiency with principles of Outside and Inside Plant construction to ensure adherence to Crown Castle standards and industry best practices
  • Provide final Design Layout Record (DLR) and test documentation to Operations and Provisioning teams for project closeout
  • Complete close out tasks in appropriate system(s)
  • Participate in On-Call rotation to learn the Fiber Engineering role of trouble identification, repair crew mobilization and circuit restoration  
  • Observe and learn from Fiber Engineers working with Network Operations Center (NOC), Field Operations, Customers, and Change management

 

Education/Certifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience

 

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • 0-2 years of fiber engineering and/or construction management experience or equivalent or 0-2 years of field construction management experience with preference to both Outside Plant and Inside Plant fiber construction

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office on Monday through Thursday.  On Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home.  There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.  

Compensation

The salary/hourly range offered for this position is $27.96 - $38.45 per hour. A candidate's offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location.  Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive a minimum of 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
