As an R&D Technician II here at Honeywell, you will support R&D by conducting experiments, analyzing data, and aiding in new product development. Your work will drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge. You will report directly to our Senior R&D Manager and you'll work out of our Des Plaines, IL location on a Hybrid work schedule.

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an R&D Engineer/Scientist I within Honeywell UOP's R&D New Materials Research Group located in Des Plaines, IL. This position provides a unique opportunity to support the development of innovative materials for UOP's catalyst and adsorbent business portfolio and collaborate with other R&D departments to accelerate materials discovery.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

The annual base salary range for this position is $66,500 - $83,100. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.   • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or another related field
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a wet chemistry laboratory

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive Innovation in the synthesis and development of new materials to uncover fundamental chemistries that advance UOP's technology pipelines. Support research project teams specializing in heterogeneous catalysis and absorption.
  • Set up, execute, and workup inorganic synthesis reactions.
  • Prepare and submit samples for characterization (LIMS) and interface with analytical scientists as needed.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, laboratory equipment, supplies, and materials inventory, and coordinate with vendors for service requests.
  • Interface with other departments within UOP to ensure robust R&D initiatives and foster new collaborations.
  • Be an active participant in digitization efforts for materials synthesis.
  • Participate in all departmental safety activities and conduct all work with a strong emphasis on safety protocols.
