Director, Accounting Services (Finance)

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director Accounting Services to lead our financial operations across multiple departments, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Agency and Contract Services, and CLS MARAD contract administration. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and internal policies, while optimizing the use of our systems-especially Deltek Costpoint-to support audit readiness and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct all accounting service functions, ensuring alignment with corporate policies, regulatory compliance, and operational goals.
  • Manage compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and internal controls across all accounting functions.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to teams responsible for AP, AR, Payroll, and contract administration activities.
  • Oversee the financial management of government contracts, including project setup, funding, CLIN tracking, and cost allocation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional leaders to meet the accounting needs of various business units and legal entities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in systems and processes, including implementation and optimization of Deltek Costpoint modules.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • CPA certification required.
  • Advanced business degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience managing finance operations in government contracting environments (e.g., DoD, GSA, MARAD).
  • Strong command of FAR, DFARS, and CAS, with proven experience handling allowable vs. unallowable costs.
  • 5 years of team leadership and financial systems experience, including audits, GAAP, and regulatory reporting.

Technical Expertise:
  • Deltek Costpoint Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with government contract accounting and reporting in Deltek Costpoint, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Projects, and Billing modules.
  • System Implementation & Optimization: Proven ability to implement, configure, and optimize Costpoint functionality to support audit readiness, compliance requirements, and operational reporting.
  • Government Contract Accounting: In-depth understanding of the full government contract lifecycle, including project setup, funding management, CLIN tracking, and cost allocation.
  • Financial Systems & Reporting: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) with a strong familiarity with SEC quarterly and annual financial statement formats and up-to-date knowledge of GAAP/SEC regulations.
