 COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range.   • Sr Technical Analyst - Pay Range: $ 95,200 - $ 123,700

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking a skilled and self-directed Senior Technical Analyst for Operations Quality Control.

 Are you passionate about operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in the energy sector? We are seeking a Senior Technical Analyst for Operations Quality Control to join our dynamic team. This is a critical role focused on ensuring the integrity and reliability of our operations by evaluating, developing, and enhancing internal controls that meet regulatory and quality standards.

This position will play a key role in supporting compliance with NERC Reliability Standards, SPP OATT, NAESB Business Practices, and internal policies. You will collaborate across multiple departments—including Compliance, Operations Engineering, and Operations leadership—as well as with external stakeholders, to proactively manage risk, drive audit readiness, and deliver insights that improve performance and efficiency.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical reviews of operational processes and controls to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Lead root cause analyses and support risk mitigation efforts.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate audit preparation and responses.
  • Conduct gap analyses for regulatory updates.
  • Track and report on performance metrics and control effectiveness.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance reliability and reduce risk.
  • Represent Operations in compliance and standards meetings.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide training and subject matter expertise on compliance and controls

  To be successful in the role we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, data science, engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Sr. Technical Analyst (6) years of job-related experience
  • Electrical Industry Expertise: Strong foundation in utility operations, grid infrastructure, NERC Standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Technical Analysis: Proficient in interpreting and analyzing operational and engineering data to inform compliance and quality decisions.
  • Research & Problem Solving: Skilled in researching complex issues, synthesizing technical and regulatory information, and generating innovative solutions.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Awareness: Familiar with FERC filings, NERC standards, NAESB business practices, tariffs, and reliability requirements.
  • Strong Communication & Leadership: Effective communicator who can present technical findings to all levels of the organization and influence change.
  • Project Management: Experienced in managing projects, coordinating resources, with strong organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making without fear of reprisal
  • Comfort working with stakeholders across departments and with external auditors/regulators
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Demonstrated interest in learning and applying new industry concepts
  • Strong commitment to adherence and enforcement of internal policies, procedures, and controls

Preferred:

  • Experience with internal auditing or controls testing
  • Familiarity with:
    • NERC Reliability Standards
    • SPP OATT
    • NAESB Business Practices
    • SPP Criteria, Market Protocols, and Business Practices

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type, Location, and Hours:

  • This is a full-time, onsite hybrid position based in Little Rock, Arkansas. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours potentially required.

Travel Requirement:

This position requires approximately 25% travel
