(Sr.) Analyst/Engineer I (II) (Engineering)
*Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid*
The (Sr.) Analyst/Engineer will work to address PJM's current and future challenges by partnering with internal and external stakeholders to research, build, and integrate actionable solutions. The Analyst/Engineer position supports the Applied Innovation Department's responsibility for sourcing, evaluating, leveraging, and supporting the adoption and implementation of advanced solutions, including software applications, systems, technologies, strategies, processes, and approaches required for the planning, operation and markets of the bulk power transmission system. The Analyst/Engineer position will work closely with key PJM business areas including but not limited to Market Services, System Operations, Operations Support, Planning, ITS, Member Relations, and Corporate Services.
Essential Functions:
Interface directly with the key PJM business units including but not limited to Market Services, System Operations, Operations Support, Planning, ITS, Member Relations and Corporate Services. Specific responsibilities may include:
Establish and maintain relationships with internal PJM subject matter experts
Quickly learn the major attributes associated with the core PJM business functions
Perform quantitative analysis and help run various simulations in support and evaluation of potential solutions and prototyping
Develop an understanding of a particular business problem or opportunity as necessary
Be able to communicate effectively to various audiences, including presenting work products within the Applied Innovation department
Research and develop a broad understand of current and emerging technologies
Participate in the development of solution requirements definition, solution conceptual and functional design
Be an advocate of innovation for the organization via actions and attitude
Be open to attending training and industry conferences
Be open to interfacing with academic, commercial, and research organizations to identify potential near and long-term solutions for PJM opportunities
Develop career development plan and individual annual goals consistent with the objective of further developing personal skills and abilities in the areas of the PJM business, relevant solutions and technologies, and methodologies like project management, software development, complex problem solving, and decision making
Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
0-5 years of experience in the Electric Industry
0-5 years of experience PSS/E (load flow and dynamics), PSCAD, and ASPEN
0-5 years of experience following programming languages: MATLAB, Python, & SQL
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Ability to visualize and solve complex problems
Curious & fast-learner
Preferred:
Master's Degree in Engineering or PhD., in Engineering
Experience with power system engineering concepts, principles, theories, regulations, standards, reliability concepts and techniques especially as they apply to PJM operations and planning
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
