Wind Technician I (Finance)



ALLETE Clean Energy, an ALLETE company headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota, develops, acquires and manages renewable energy projects and delivers clean-energy solutions in multiple states. This position is at our 50-megawatt Condon wind farm in east-central Oregon, just outside the city of Condon. The site features 83 600-kilowatt Mitsubishi wind turbines and its rural setting near where the John Day River flows into the Columbia River offers many outdoor activities. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under direct supervision, assist in performing entry-level preventative maintenance and repair activities consistent with policies and procedures on wind turbines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn the aspects of defect detection and repair of the wind turbines and aspects of heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing.
  • Attend regular safety meetings and follows appropriate company safety and environmental policies.
  • Work within clearly defined standard operating procedures and adheres to quality guidelines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Preference may be given to applicants that have completed a wind technician training program.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • No experience required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position will report regularly in person to Condon, OR.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to:
    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Understand and follow customary instructions in order to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner.
    • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Understand problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and report them to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
    • Work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions.
    • Work in mechanically and electrically oriented situations.
    • Basic knowledge of the use of various hand tools.
    • Meet the physical/mental/environmental demands of the position.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

BENEFITS:
  • The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $23.10 - $28.40. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
