Structural Engineer (Construction)



GPI seeks a Structural Engineer to join our Structural (buildings) department in our Suffern, NY office. You will design structural systems for cultural buildings, office buildings, healthcare and research facilities, schools, and various other projects.

Responsibilities:

Creating structural building designs for a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structure.
Developing construction documents including structural foundation and framing plans, details, notes, and specifications.
Visiting project sites to evaluate and document existing conditions.
Assist with managing workload allocation and project scheduling.
Communicate directly with clients and contractors regarding project scheduling and costs.
Coordinate with other internal or external engineering trades and architectural consultants.
Attend coordination meetings as required and visit construction sites to ensure work meets the design intent and client's specifications.

Requirements

B.S. in Civil Engineering.
5 to 10 years of structural (buildings) experience working in the consulting industry.
A PE license (or working towards a PE) is required.
Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience with current industry software, including REVIT, RAM Structural System, Enercalc, Bluebeam REVU, AutoCAD, and MS Office is required.
A firm understanding of local building codes, including but not limited to the NYC Building Code, the International Building Code, and ASCE 7, is required.
