JOB INFORMATION

Intervention Teacher

Reports to:

Assistant Principal

Hours:

40 hours a week 10-month contract

Office Location:

5105 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429

Salary Range:

$42,500+

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the assistant principal, interventionist teachers are responsible for student achievement. Interventionist teachers screen students, build systems of interventions, write lesson plans, model exemplary behavior, build relationships, problem solve, and align instruction to the needs of students. Interventionist teachers are data driven and explore innovative instructional practices. Interventionist teachers partner with Academic Coaches to continually develop their practice.

Successful interventionist teachers will possess integrity, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and maintain accountability for their actions. Interventionist teachers will align themselves with NMAs core principles and understand the unique challenges of immigrant and refugee communities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Foster a culture of learning that embraces the strengths of all students and empowers them to achieve their academic goals.

Screen students to identify appropriate math and/or literacy interventions.

Maintain accurate records and use data to make instructional decisions.

Provide individual and small-group instruction for identified students.

Develop and deliver highly effective lessons that improve students math and literacy proficiency.

Use curriculum and materials that reflect the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Establish learning goals and collaboratively track students progress towards goals.

Proactively engage families in NMAs academic program.

Actively participate in intervention team meetings and/or academic leadership meetings.

Continually seek ways to improve interventions for students at NMA.

Coach and support general education teachers in the use of best practices in math and/or literacy.

Model the RHINO Way, and teach students the RHINO Way using PBIS strategies.

Maintain a growth mindset and a positive attitude; successfully solve problems.

Set personal professional development goals; engage in professional development and coaching opportunities.

Maintain a working knowledge of Title I programs and adhere to all guidelines and statutes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in education required

Current MN teaching license required

Minimum 3 years of teaching experience required

Experience in a high-performing, fast-paced environment preferred
