Clinical Nurse Specialist-Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Transport (Finance)

This is a full-time, 100% FTE salaried position. The scheduled shifts are primarily Monday-Friday day shifts with some off shifts and weekends. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department. You will work on-site primarily at University Hospital located in Madison, WI.

We are seeking an MSN prepared Registered Nurse to:

  • Provide clinical expertise and clinical nursing practice support to nursing staff at University Hospital and American Family Children's Hospital (AFCH) with a focus on pediatric emergency medicine and pediatric/neonatal transport.
  • Areas of pediatric inpatient support include the 11-bed dedicated pediatric emergency department located at AFCH in Madison, WI.
  • Areas of pediatric and neonatal transport support include planned and unplanned emergency and critical care transport (ground and air) serving the Midwest region.
  • Our neonatal and pediatric transport care team members provide comprehensive care for patients in need of transport with a wide variety of both medical and surgical issues including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, and multi-system organ failure.
  • Interventions for pediatric transport patients may include ECMO, high-frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide and active cooling.
  • Implement customized evidence-based advanced nursing interventions, including the provision of direct care, to improve nurse-sensitive outcomes.
  • Act as a clinical expert for specific clinical populations. The pediatric emergency and transport team require a great deal of clinical skill, collaboration and logistical support; patients may be extremely complex; therefore, a minimum of one year of specific pediatric transport care experience is strongly preferred.

Pay:
  • Pay range is based on a full-time (100%) position.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or doctoral degree in Nursing Required
  • Master's Degree or doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) with CNS role focus Preferred

Work Experience

  • 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
  • Previous experience as a clinical nurse specialist Preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical center Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
  • Current CPR/BLS certification Required
  • CNS certification Preferred
  • Certification in specialty area of practice Preferred
