Do you have passion for enabling cloud customers to build and deploy platform infrastructure? Do you want to join a strategic CTO architecture team focused on developing and selling cloud hardware platforms and address a growing market?
This role would function as a Mechanical System Architect for defining technical strategy on Jabil's cloud server platforms working in the CTO organization. We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Architect, knowledgeable with server/storage platform architectures.
As a System Architect, you will engage with internal and external customers, recommend technical strategy and direction, lead technical investigations, define product requirements, and work closely with teams across Jabil. You will be joining an exciting fast-paced team with entrepreneurial spirit, adapting and iterating quickly to meet evolving customer needs.
What will you do? -
System Architects at Jabil collaborate with customers, sales, and product planning to establish the technical direction for Jabil design teams in the Cloud and Compute markets.
As a Mechanical System Architect, you will be expected to:
Demonstrate a level of expertise in System Architecture that matches or exceeds the expertise of customers.
Assess and/or generate technical requirements across Cloud and Networking hardware.
Work closely with thermal and liquid cooling engineers to enable cooling solutions at a system and rack level.
Develop mechanical concepts and CAD in support of System Architectures
Monitor the technical direction of designs during product development,
Mentor others in the organization to build team members design capability
In this role you will:
Advise on and discuss technology tradeoffs with customers, product planning and business development.
Establish technical direction for customer originated projects and Jabil's own cloud compute product offerings. Technical direction includes:
Alignment to product requirements documents' Architectural tradeoffs on cost, complexity, and schedule
System layout, mechanical feasibility; Leveraging strategy and risk planning
Collaborate with fellow system architects in the electrical, thermal, firmware and software domains
Communicate technical direction to Jabil development teams through Jabil handoff documentation
Stay current on vendor technology capabilities in spaces such as CPUs, GPUs, Storage, Memory, FPGAs, board materials, regulators, power supplies etc.
Remain ready to architect to the latest industry trends including areas such as Open Compute (OCP) and Nvidia MGX.
Deep dive into new open-ended areas requiring experienced engineering; Contribute to the improvement of our architecture methods and processes
Train, mentor, and coach new engineers; Ability to travel if required, up to 15% internationally
How will you get here? –
Education:
Bachelor's degree, in Mechanical Engineering or a similar area, is required
Experience:
Minimum of (10) plus years' experience required
Extensive knowledge of ME design tools such as Creo (Pro-E) and/or SolidWorks is required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Capability to research and explore unfamiliar technologies and concepts with an eye towards feasibility
Familiarity with the Intel, AMD, Nvidia or ARM CPU/GPU architectures. Direct experience with at least some of the above is preferred.
Extensive knowledge of ME design tools such as Creo (Pro-E) and/or Solidworks
Knowledge of contemporary manufacturing techniques, limitations, and costs
Knowledge of data center environmental and infrastructure paradigms
Ability to synthesize new designs from a limited set of requirements and boundary condition
Fluency in the electrical, firmware and software domain. Specifically, an understanding of basics nomenclature, concepts and tools used by your architectural teammates.
Fluency in the thermal domain. Specifically, an understand of component cooling techniques, when components require cooling and what information your thermal engineering teammate needs during concept assessment
Preferred Qualifications:
MS in Engineering is preferred
Familiarity with the Intel, AMD, Nvidia or ARM CPU/GPU architectures, and/or Direct experience with at least some of the above is preferred
Total Base Pay Range: $157,200.00 - 220,100.00 - 282,900.00 USD Annual
Target annual Bonus is: 30%
