Position Summary — The Dockhand supports daily marina operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This role assists guests with fueling and supplies and supports the Dockmaster and Marina Supervisor as needed.

Essential Functions — An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to customers, vendors, and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of docks, store, and all marina common areas.
  • Refuel boats and handle marina-related transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Support inventory management for fuel, food, beverages, and marina supplies.
  • Communicate professionally with guests and coworkers.
  • Assist with special projects or routine tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to all Grand Lake Casino policies and procedures.
  • Perform all assigned duties promptly and professionally.

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience as a dock attendant or customer service preferred.
  • General knowledge of boating, including handling and terminology, is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, interpret plans and communicate effectively with staff and the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and communicate clearly.
  • Familiarity with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Capable of using tools and equipment relevant to marina operations.
  • Able to problem-solve and adapt quickly.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and perform strenuous tasks.
  • Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to swim is required.
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic understanding of boat handling and how to safely secure boats at the dock.

Other Requirements — Required to obtain and maintain a Seneca Cayuga tribal gaming license and a state issued I.D. All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning employment. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements — Possess the physical stamina and capability to perform various tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), standing for extended periods, and engaging in physically demanding activities to ensure the effective upkeep of the facility. Must be able to reach, push and pull with hands and arms,  sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Work Environment —Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, often in varying weather conditions.

Special Working Conditions — Part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week, primarily on weekends. May be required to cover occasional weekday shifts as needed.
