Overview
Metrology Engineering Specialist (Central Engineering Services) is a technical specialist in calibration and maintenance of equipment in support of the engineering sciences discipline at Cook. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise in the field of metrology, developing and improving in-house calibration methods and procedures, supporting equipment calibration and maintenance throughout its lifecycle, and maintaining the equipment database for the team.
Responsibilities
Ensure equipment is calibrated correctly to obtain accurate readings;
Develop in-house calibration methods and procedures consistent with international standard requirements (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025);
Compile, organize, and trend calibration and equipment data in support of management review activities;
Inform engineering and science team personnel when equipment is due for calibration or maintenance;
Manage equipment labels;
Maintain the equipment database;
Prevent use of out-of-service and inactive equipment;
Control access to working standards;
Inform those concerned when a consumable reference material expires; and
Facilitate the destruction of equipment.
Qualifications
Two-year technical university/ engineering technology degree preferred, combined with minimum 1-2 years relevent experience; or
3-5 years relevent experience;
Working knowledge of subject matter;
Detail oriented;
Certification or specialized training in field of metrology preferred; and
Experience working in regulated environment preferred.
