Transportation Safety Supervisor (Project Management)
Responsibilities:
Run training programs for groups of drivers for yearly working behaviors and new techniques
Conduct onsite customer inspections for potential unsafe delivery locations
Conducting final exam training for driver trainers and newly hired drivers
Perform onsite accident and incident event evaluation and coordination with authorities
Present safety topics at driver meetings, presenting up-to-date training and informational sessions with drivers
Ensure accident and injury reports are completed accurately and completely
Issue disciplinary documentation to drivers for accident, injury, or unsafe behavior
Assist in project management for Transportation Safety team initiatives as required
Create and present updates to management of initiatives for Transportation Safety department
Perform on-road inspections of drivers performing tasks to ensure they are using proper working methods and uniforms
Work with driver supervisors as needed to create best practices and training materials
Facilitate onsite training for onboarding of new drivers
Create training materials to be used for training new drivers and driver trainers
Travel to satellite facilities to provide safety support for Transportation supervisors
Create and distribute safety materials to relevant internal stakeholders to distribute to drivers
Conduct retraining for drivers who have had safety incidents tailored to the drivers situation
Review Samsara events and classify whether they need to be coached or dismissed
Ensure Samsara Driver information is accurate and new hire information is up to date
Update and maintain the safety setup for the Samsara safety dashboard
Ensure onboard training is up to date and relevant based on Driver Supervisor feedback
Maintain up-to-date scheduling for newly hired drivers, ensuring compliance with the training program and conducting retraining when required.
Requirements:
Strong documentation experience.
Knowledge of Samsara telematics system preferred.
Knowledge of Smith System defensive driving techniques.
Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
Experience with leading training or coaching programs preferred.
High level of attention to detail, organizational skills & multi-tasking skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Ability to learn how to utilize department-specific software systems (SPW, SMG, Travelers).
Prior experience in supporting a Transportation Safety function.
Must be able to multitask and work independently as well as contribute to the overall success of the team.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred
3-5 years in Transportation and/or Transportation Safety experience.
Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations
Experience driving a commercial vehicle preferred
Technology Skills:
Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
Video conferencing software Microsoft Teams.
Knowledge of Microsoft D365 & High Jump.
Proficient in analytics, data management, pivot tables, formulas.
Strong time management skills.
Work Environment:
Able to walk and stand for long hours.
Must be able to bend, lift, twist, and climb stairs.
Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
Ability to work flexible hours including some weekend hours.
