Boat Ramp Attendant (Personal Services)

The Boat Ramp Attendant is responsible for assisting members and the public as a trained spotter offering safe direction at the ramp for launching and retrieving trailer-able vessels. This may include, but not limited to, giving information on safe turn around, parking, limits of the space and general facility, products and services, assisting with maintaining a clean, clear launch surface, patrolling for unauthorized docking of vessels in restricted spaces and collecting ramp fees. Must maintain situational awareness and work within an active construction zone safely and effectively. This role is also referred to as Member Services Specialist.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining effective and friendly working relationships with contractors, staff, members, guests and dealing with conflict effectively, courteously, and tactfully
  • Responding to member questions and needs 
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Dealing with conflict effectively, courteously, and tactfully
  • Accepting and reconciling daily cash, credit card payments
  • Routine maintenance tasks including garbage collection, keeping roadway and launch waters clear of debris
  • Ability to conduct professional radio communication with teammates and operate an iPad with POS technology
  • Provide information on marina products and services
  • Available to work overtime when required
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

 

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

 

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior marina experience preferred
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds unassisted
