Driver, Feed Haul (Transportation)



Position Summary

We're looking for a skilled and safety-focused CDL driver to join our feed hauling team. In this role, you'll operate a commercial motor vehicle (up to 40 tons gross weight) to deliver feed to farms across North and South Carolina. Typical routes average 85 miles round trip, with approximately four loads completed during a 12-hour shift.

Who You'll Work With

This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor and works closely with other drivers and mill operations staff. There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate tractor-trailers to deliver feed to designated farms.
  • Ensure all loads are secure prior to transport.
  • Perform and document DOT-required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain accurate trip, weight, and equipment records.
  • Report any equipment or maintenance concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Follow all DOT, state, federal, and company safety regulations and policies.
  • Assist with other duties as needed to support mill and transport operations.
  1. Qualifications

  2. Valid Class A CDL and current medical card required.
  3. Minimum age 21 with at least 1 year of verifiable driving experience (3 years preferred).
  4. Clean, satisfactory driving record.
  5. Knowledge of DOT, state, and federal transportation regulations.
  6. Ability to read, write legibly, and perform basic math functions.
  7. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  8. Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and commitment to safe practices.

Safety Commitment

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and drive for extended periods; climb in and out of truck cabs multiple times per shift. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and around moving equipment/noisy environments. Must be able to lift and maneuver items as needed, walk catwalks, and climb ladders/stairs (including feed bins up to ~20 feet). Ability to walk the length of a 40-foot trailer catwalk to open/close top lids safely.
