Resilience Water Area Leader - Northern California (Finance)

Role Description:

Arcadis is looking for an inspiring and driven Area Leader to join our growing Resilience Water Business Area in Northern California. This high-impact role, reporting directly to the Resilience Water West Region Director, offers flexibility to be based in our San Francisco, Sacramento, or San Jose office.

As an Area Leader in our Resilience Water Business Line, you will lead the charge across Northern California, one of our most vital and opportunity-rich markets. You'll drive business strategy, elevate client partnerships, and build and guide high-performing teams through innovative solutions to the region's most pressing water and wastewater challenges.

Role Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing the vision and strategy for Arcadis' Water business in Northern California, aligning with national and global priorities. You will drive profitable growth through a combination of new market expansion, key account management, and strategic pursuit leadership and represent Arcadis in key market sectors, industry associations, and regional events as a thought leader and partner of choice. Additional responsibilities include:

Client Engagement & Program Delivery

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients across cities, utilities, water districts, and public agencies.
  • Oversee execution of large-scale, high-impact programs and projects in wastewater treatment, potable reuse, water resilience, and water management.
  • Maintain P&L accountability, ensuring financial success, risk mitigation, and delivery excellence.

People Leadership & Culture
  • Attract, lead, mentor, and inspire multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, and project managers.
  • Foster Arcadis' culture of inclusion, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Champion diversity and belonging across all aspects of team growth and project delivery.
  • Travel (as needed) for Team Leadership and Client/Market Engagement.

Key Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you must bring a passion for sustainability, smart water solutions, and next-generation infrastructure technologies. You should have a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage financial performance, and secure major project wins. A deep understanding of regional water challenges, public agency clients, and the funding landscape is essential. Additionally, a trusted leadership presence, along with strong public speaking, negotiation, and client relationship skills, will be key to thriving in this position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 15 years of water/wastewater experience, including 5+ years in operational or client leadership roles
  • California PE license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active involvement in industry groups (WEF, AWWA, CWEA, DBIA, etc.)
  • Experience with alternative delivery models (e.g., design-build, CMAR, progressive design-build).

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $170,899 - $299,074. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
