VP of Sales and Business Development (Sales)



Position Summary
We are looking for a strategic, growth-oriented Vice President of Sales and Business Development to lead revenue generation and market expansion in the landscaping industry. This role will be responsible for scaling our sales operations, identifying new business opportunities, and building long-term client and partner relationships in the commercial landscape market. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving sustainable revenue growth, and experience building a sales and business development function. Knowledge of the landscape industry is a plus but not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership

Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company growth objectives across service lines (e.g., maintenance, design-build, snow removal).
Build scalable processes for lead generation, client acquisition, and territory expansion.

Business Development

Identify and pursue new market opportunities, including, but not limited to, commercial contracts, property management firms, HOAs, and high-end residential prospects.
Forge strategic partnerships with developers, general contractors, and architects.
Drive RFP responses, bid processes, and proposal development.

Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients to ensure high satisfaction and retention.
Serve as a visible ambassador of the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.

Team Leadership

Provide sales and business development throughout the organization.
Build a strong business development function.
Work with senior management to set clear targets and coach the team to exceed revenue goals and improve win rates.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

Monitor industry trends, seasonal demand patterns, competitor activity, and pricing models to refine sales strategies.
Provide regular reporting on sales performance, pipeline status, and market insights to the executive team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Landscape Architecture, or a related field (MBA a plus).
10+ years of sales/business development experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role -- preferably in landscaping, construction, property services, or related industries.
Proven ability to grow revenue, close large deals, and manage long-term client relationships.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and estimating tools.
