Senior Staff Accountant

Cash-Wa Distributing, a vibrant and privately held food distribution company, is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic accounting professional to join our Finance Department as a Senior Staff Accountant. If you have 3-5+ years of progressive experience in full-service accounting and financial reporting, we want to hear from you! This position reports directly to our Director of Finance.

Duties:

  • Financial Reporting: Reconcile and analyze general ledger activities. Prepare and publish weekly and monthly financial reports.
  • Period-End Closing: Manage and assist the Director of Finance with monthly and yearly closing procedures, ensuring all journal entry activities are completed accurately and timely.
  • Drive continuous improvement by automating, refining, and implementing processes and tools.
  • Problem Solving: Review and resolve issues and vendor pricing and rebate discrepancies in collaboration with Accounts Payable and Merchandising.
  • Audit and Data Analysis: Audit contracts for terms compliance, ad hoc analysis using a broad variety of financial, sales, and operational data, and other metrics. Implementing controls and “checks and balances” to ensure accurate data collection and retention.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and document conclusions. Maintain and prepare adequate process documentation as necessary.
  • Participates in or handling of special projects as needed and other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Finance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or similar and 3-5 years related experience required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications, with a prominence on excel
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Skilled at interacting effectively with diverse personalities across all levels of an organization, including customers, vendors, and all internal departments.
  • Capable of reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, professional journals, technical documents, and government regulations
  • Able to follow complex instructions delivered in written, verbal, or diagram formats
  • Effective at resolving issues involving multiple variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands: 

  • Frequent stand/walk short distances within office areas or performing outside office activities
  • Constant sitting depending on task assigned for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasional bending/twisting at waist/knees/neck to and from seated position while performing routine office activities
  • Constant use of both hands/arms simultaneously while performing desktop activities, keying data, operating office equipment
  • Constant use of speech/hearing/sight abilities required to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Occasional lifting 1-10lbs
