Associate Manager, Environmental (SHE) (Finance)

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Associate Manager, Environmental (SHE) your primary responsibility is the planning, design, implementation and oversight of the site's environmental compliance assurance programs, leading continuous improvement initiatives including data management, assessments and audits, corrective action effectiveness reviews, incident management and ISO 14001 certification.This role will also manage both direct reports and contractors while developing and partnering with "champions" within the site's Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure that critical compliance activities are completed. The primary focus of the role will be environmental however the role will also be responsible for other related SHE topics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage environmental compliance activities for all media such as waste management, spill prevention control and countermeasures, storm water management, and air quality.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all permits, regulations, projects, and other compliance needs at the site.
  • Supervise staff of environmental professionals working on air, waste, and water compliance programs, directing work and guiding their personal development.
  • Coordinate training and communicate environmental compliance deliverables with other departments as required.
  • Oversee contractor activities related to waste management, water collection and other environmental projects.
  • Act as site lead for the implementation of the Environmental Management System and maintain 3rd party ISO 14001 certification.
  • Partner with site leadership team to develop internal environmental Key Performance Indicators, aligning with Global metrics and driving performance improvement.
  • Monitor, evaluate and interpret environmental legislation and regulations to determine potential impact to site operations.
  • Actively participate in organization wide discussions on environmental compliance issues and environmental strategy.
  • Provides safety, health and environmental support to Operations as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree Environmental Science, Engineering or military experience considered in lieu of education requirement
  • 5+ years of SHE leadership responsibility in a manufacturing organization which includes experience managing environmental compliance activities.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations.
  • Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Experience leading teams / managing others.
  • Ability to effectively interact with others, establishing open, candid and trusting relationships to create win/win outcomes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills that permit the clear and concise transfer of information to stakeholders.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time core office hours with expectation to be available for occasional nights/weekends
  • Up to 10% domestic travel may be required
  • Work in an office environment will be approximately 50% of time
  • Work in a manufacturing environment will be approximately 50% of time
  • This role is not eligible for remote work
  • This role is not eligible for relocation
