Safety Coordinator - Parsippany, NJ (Finance)

Position Overview and Impact

Maintains and updates documentation of safety training, assists with safety orientations, ensures compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and CRH protocol, processes, and procedures, and supports safety team initiatives. Facilitates, implements, and coordinates safety training programs for all Tilcon NY facilities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strictly adheres to and promotes environmental, health, safety and training policies, procedures and requirements, including but not limited to wearing proper PPE as required.
  • Learns and follows proper internal processes and OSHA/MSHA requirements.
  • Prepares reports and maintains safety files, documentation, and training database.
  • Monitors training database for expiration of training dates.
  • Assists with scheduling, facilitating, and participating in training, events, and inspections.
  • Assists in preparing notices, documentation and communication required by OSHA, MSHA and other agencies.
  • Maintains, updates, and distributes safety related programs.
  • Orders and distributes PPE.
  • Coordinates and schedules prescription eyeglass program, hearing test truck, safety boot truck, quarterly noise, dust & asbestos sampling to be in compliance with government regulations.
  • Coordinates with CRH risk manager to manage property damage and general liability claims.
  • Maintains documentation of quarterly blasting audits for aggregate locations.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Varies duties as per requested by management.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Required Education/Experience/Skills

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 3-5+ years of practical office work experience.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in company policies.
  • Training facilitation and coordination experience required.
  • Displays a professional and courteous attitude at all times.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and work professionally with other personnel.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong ability to research, retain, and cite regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Strong ability to interact well with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Travel to various work sites is required.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from four year college or university.
  • Safety training experience preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor certification is a plus.

This job will require both office work and fieldwork. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, noise, and in outside weather conditions. This employee is expected to continuously work with others.
