Asst. Director of Compliance (Finance)



Organizational Unit: The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division 1 athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF.

Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Compliance works in conjunction with other Compliance staff to oversee all processes, procedures and systems necessary for the department to comply with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations for an NCAA Division I FBS member institution. The Assistant Director of Compliance will work cooperatively with Athletics Department staff, coaches, student-athletes, prospects, and carious constituents outside of the Athletics Department to help ensure compliance with NCAA, American Athletic Conference (AAC), and USF regulations. Responsibilities include: detailed monitoring of recruiting activities, assist with prospective student-athlete initial and transfer eligibility assessments, and prepare playing/practice seasons for specified sports; additionally this position will assist in researching and drafting NCAA and AAC waivers and reports, provide NCAA and AAC rile interpretations, collaborate in coordinating and administering rules education for administrators, coaches, support staff, student-athletes, and booster groups; and other duties as assigned. Adheres to all NCAA Conference, and University rules and regulations.This position requires a Master's degree in education or a field of study related to the academic program, or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of experience.

  • Monitors the following within the Athletic Compliance Office: NCAA recruiting rules and regulations, through the collection and audit of recruiting forms (e.g., official visit, unofficial visits, coaches/staff phone calls, recruiting travel, recruiting calendars, etc.); complimentary admissions process for all prospective student-athletes, student-athletes and coaching staff members; required MCAA, AAC and USF student-athlete forms (e.g., beginning of the year forms, outside competition forms, etc.); annual coaches recruiting exam scores.

  • Assesses initial and transfer eligibility requirements related to NCAA eligibility requirements. Assists with the USF admissions process, including submissions of transcripts to Admissions for pre-evaluation purposes. Assists in updating and maintaining sport specific Weekly Admissions Report (W.A.R).

  • Assists Executive Director of Compliance with roster management and data collection necessary to maintain records through Compliance Assistance, Teamworks and ARMS software platforms for specified sport programs. Assists the Executive Director for Compliance in creating educational materials and interpretation of NCAA rules, policies and regulations for student-athletes, coaches, athletics staff, and representative of athletic interests.

  • Provide research related to case precedent for NCAA and AAC waivers and violations. Works with the Executive Director of Compliance to prepare and submit said waivers and/or violations. Assists in monitoring any potential self-imposed or other required penalties associated with violations.

  • Attend and document practice site visits to ensure compliance with bylaw 11 (Personnel), 12 (Recruiting) and 17 (Playing and Practice Seasons) requirements.
