Regional Controller- SOCAL (City of Industry, CA) (Finance)



The Regional Controller reports to the Senior Vice President of the Structures Southern California facilities, providing leadership and direction for the effective use of various financial and operational systems within the assigned site. You will have extensive interaction with the sites as well as Division and Corporate leadership. This role will also provide leadership and direction to the four Southern California site Controllers.

What will you do?

  • Provides coaching and mentoring to the four Southern California site Controllers (Rancho Cucamonga, City of Industry, Cudahy and Port Hueneme) The Regional SVP will be responsible for growing and developing each site's Accounting Team to ensure there is a strong pipeline and succession plan.
  • Partners with the regional SVP to provide strategic and tactical thinking that successfully drives the sites forward focused on improving site financial performance and reducing working capital.
  • Supporting the sites where needed in monthly financial closing activities to ensure timely and accurate preparation of internal financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Ownership of the four Southern California site's balance sheets, ensuring accounts are properly reconciled and that there is no unforeseen financial exposure or off-balance sheet liabilities that are unaccounted for.
  • Oversee and support the site's annual external audit and any other local in-scope audit.
  • Review and prepare the sites for their quarterly Business Unit Review ("BUR"). Preparation includes detailed analysis and support for the contents of the BUR with the focus on challenging the sites to ensure complete understanding of the variances to plan/forecast and assurance of accuracy. The Regional Controller will attend quarterly BUR meetings with CPP's CEO, CFO, Division President, and Division VP of Finance.
  • Review each site's KPIs weekly on organized calls with the Reginal SVP to ensure there is a path to hit the site's monthly financial commitments.
  • Utilize the CPP Toolbox of reporting tools to drive the business, understanding/creating/implementing/teaching
  • Ad hoc financial analysis to challenge the status quo; proactively look for financial relationships to be evaluated to improve operational performance. This will include leading current business cases that impact each site.
  • Ensures proper inventory valuation and physical inventory management as well as accurate standard costs. Standard costs need to be continuously challenged for accuracy to ensure both proper inventory valuation and equally important the accuracy of the measurement of profitability at part number level. The Regional Controller will be responsible for overseeing the annual standard cost rolls for both BOM/routed items as well as ensuring accuracy of site OH rates. They will also be responsible for ensuring accurate annual physical inventories at all four sites.
  • Review all site customer quoting packages in coordination with the GM/SVP/Commercial VP to ensure all part actual costs are accurate to equip the commercial team with necessary price to achieve site financial goals.
  • Review of the annual operating plan (budget) at each site to ensure that the sites are positioned with an achievable plan that aligns with CPP's expectations. The Regional Controller will need to challenge the GM and controller of all the sites to ensure accuracy and achievability of the annual plan.
  • Partner with the Controllers and Financial Analysts to ensure they have the tools necessary to provide accurate site forecasts. Each site will be expected to have accurate monthly as well as quarterly forecasts and that there are no large surprises showing up in the financials at month end.
  • Review and approve all financial analysis and documentation associated with capital expenditures including NPV, ROI, payback of capital requisitions and post-mortem analysis. They will ensure sites are tracking to their annual Capex budget and ultimately their annual cash budget.
  • Ensure low past due receivables with customers across all four Southern California sites.
  • Ensure that the company's financial and accounting policies are understood and adhered to by the site's team members. The Regional Controller will be responsible for maintaining a strong internal control environment in coordination with the site Controller at each facility.
  • Ensure conformance to Federal Defense Acquisition Regulations applicable to defense contractors and supports the preparation of Product Cost and pricing proposal and the follow-on audits by Defense Contract Audit Agency
  • Comply with all safety, GAAP and FASB policies and procedures


What can you bring to the table?
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance is required.
  • MBA emphasizing in Finance is strongly preferred but not required for this position.
  • 10+ years in a professional Accounting/Finance manufacturing role
  • 5+ years in a leadership role required
  • Manufacturing/ Aerospace preferred.
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Attention to detail, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Power BI/SQL experience is a plus. Ability to work with others through complex situations
