Location: All GLC Properties 

Position Summary — The Dockmaster completes jobs and maintains the Marina in safe and sanitary conditions.  Maintains the structural integrity of the buildings and maintains the facility in an inviting atmosphere. This is to include the Marina, Casino properties.   

Essential Functions — An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Assists other Dockmasters' in marina related duties such as securing boats to docks and ensuring safety of others at the facility. 

  • Insures that work assignments disbursed are accomplished. 

  • Perform administrative duties (i.e., correspondence, messages, memos, telephone contacts, etc.) for Senior Manager, Casino Operations. 

  • Trains other harbor personnel 

  • Provides appropriate assistance to customers, vendors, officials and staff. 

  • Routinely inspects and ensures above average appearance of facility. 

  • Communicates with customers and potential customers and guests in a professional manner at all times. Helps resolves customer disputes in a manner consistent with Grand Lake Casino and Policies. Refers all disputes outside scope of abilities to Senior Manager, Casino Operations. 

  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned. 

  • Provides appropriate assistance to customers, vendors, officials and staff. 

  • Routinely inspects and ensures above average appearance of facility. 

  • Communicates with customers and potential customers and guests in a professional manner at all times. Helps resolves customer disputes in a manner consistent with Grand Lake Casino policies and refers all disputes outside scope of abilities to Senior Manager, Casino Operations.  

  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned. 

  • Operate hand tools, identify building materials and machinery needed to complete projects in a timely manner. 

  • Cleans up after each job and puts tools and equipment in their place. 

  • Develop and maintain a friendly, courteous rapport with customers and staff. 

  • Has the ability to work with others to complete special projects or task assigned daily, weekly, or routinely. 

  • Performs and completes all jobs assigned in a professional manner. 

  • Follows GLC policies and procedures. 

Qualifications   

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and dock attendant work experience preferred. General boat knowledge, handling and terminology a plus. Candidates with previous customer service employment experience are preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Ability to read, interpret plans and communicate effectively with staff and the public in a professional manner. 

  • Understanding the operation and maintenance of various systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting within the Marina. 

  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for employees and patrons. 

  • Skilled in using various tools, equipment, and technologies relevant to Marina work. 

  • Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions in a timely manner. 

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods. 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

  • Ability to swim, work outside in all weather conditions. 

  •  Candidate must be able to work with little supervision. Knowledge of Harbor Regulations.  

  • Basic knowledge in "need help securing boat." 

  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays as required. 

Other Requirements — Required to obtain and maintain a Seneca Cayuga tribal gaming license and a state issued I.D. All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning employment. Must be at least 18 years of age. 

Physical Requirements — Possess the physical stamina and capability to perform various tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), standing for extended periods, and engaging in physically demanding activities to ensure the effective upkeep of the facility. Must be able to reach, push and pull with hands and arms,  sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. 

Work Environment — Grand Lake Casino is a drug and alcohol-free workplace; Must be able to work in a casino environment which includes high levels of smoke, dust, noise, and bright flashing lights. 

Special Working Conditions — Working conditions include maintaining both interior and exterior areas of the Marina, necessitating adaptability to outdoor working conditions, including exposure to varying weather elements, as part of the comprehensive efforts to ensure the facility's overall upkeep.
