Overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the general accounting function, preparing financial reports, and presenting findings and recommendations to Senior Management, Board of Directors, and Federal Regulators.

Responsibilities

Leads and supervises the daily operations of the general accounting team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. This position also maintains and prepares Parent and Subsidiary books and financial reports. Oversees the preparation and submission of financial reports to regulatory bodies including the Federal Reserve and FDIC. Interprets regulatory guidance and apply GAAP to ensure accurate financial reporting. Plays a pivotal role in analyzing and improving departmental processes, evaluating and presenting new technologies to senior management for adoption. Drives digital transformation initiatives, including automation of accounting workflows and implementation of advanced accounting tools. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of automated processes, ensuring compliance and data integrity. Extract and analyze large datasets to support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance improvement. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, trains staff in best practices and new systems. Leads change management efforts and mentor staff through transitions to new technologies and processes. The Accounting Manager also collaborates with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance and five (5) years of experience in Accounting, or Finance operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Commercial Banking experience is preferred
  • Must have knowledge in banking procedures including regulatory law and FDICIA.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and data analytics tools is required.
  • Continuous learning and staying updated with the latest accounting trends and technologies are essential.
  • Must have excellent leadership, time management, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficient in MS Software, (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are preferred.
