Job Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Automation Engineering the Automation (Controls) Engineer role involves maintaining and improving automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining control systems in manufacturing equipment.
  • Build and design for standardized automation cells and custom automated solutions from scratch for manufacturing.
  • Designing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining PLC software and wiring.
  • Programming PLC's (Allen Bradley), HMI's (Ignition), motion controllers, and Vision systems (Cognex) controls for factory automation equipment
  • Coordinates project activities with other functional groups such as engineering, operations, and quality to ensure the efficient execution of continuous improvements.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • BS Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and ability to research, evaluate, order install, maintain, or upgrade various types of equipment, tools, or tool sets.
  • Design of fail-safe electrical circuits using both safety logic controllers and safety-rated relays.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks to create schematics and/or drawings.
  • Proven understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, and improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing expansions and ramp up preferred.
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers and new tool bring up is a plus.
  • HMI design utilizing Ignition
  • PLC programming utilizing Allen Bradley Studio 5000
  • Vision system programming utilizing Cognex InSight
  • Robotics programming experience (Fanuc) is a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally, in writing, and via presentations.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Green/Black belt is a plus

Pay Range (Applicable to California)

$136,400.00 USD - $187,500.00 USD Annual
