Web Developer II (Finance)



Department: Annual Giving Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education
Description:

Supports a college or department website, including writing HTML documents, creating graphics, digitizing pictures, and inserting audio and video to enhance the look and feel of the website. Coordinates various web projects that uphold the image of the university to a worldwide audience. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position research, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

1. Develops content and layout of assigned web pages, using graphics software specifically designed for publishing on the Web.
2. Creates and edits graphics for web and print; digitizes images using scanning and digital camera equipment.
3. Assists with quality and usability testing of web pages to ensure compliance with departmental quality standards.
4. Coordinates with contacts and updates information on the assigned website to ensure that the university is well represented.
5. May administer a microcomputer-based Web server for a college or department.
6. Coordinates assigned projects and leads the work of other Web staff assigned to the projects.
7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

Videography and Storytelling:

  • Conceptualize, film and edit video content that highlights donor impact, student success, alumni stories, events, campaigns and institutional milestones.
  • Create both short-form and long-form videos for digital platforms, email, social media, events and web use.
  • Capture interviews, testimonials, b-roll footage and live events across campus and off-site.
  • Provides video, audio and high resolution still photography in the studio and on location.

Web Development & Integration:
  • Build and maintain campaign landing pages, microsites and web features that showcase video content and drive user engagement.
  • Embed videos in responsive layouts optimized for all devices and platforms.
  • Ensure seamless integration of multimedia into the UH Alumni and Advancement websites.

Editing and Post-Production:
  • Perform all aspects of post-production including cutting, color correction, audio mixing, motion graphics and captioning. This includes motion graphics, captioning and optimization for fast load times and SEO.
  • Edit videos to match brand tone, message and accessibility standards. Edits and formats multimedia images using state-of-the-art equipment and software.
  • Maintain a consistent style and visual voice across all projects.

Project Management:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to manage video production timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Advancement, Alumni Relations, Marketing and Development to execute video projects that support campaigns and goals.
  • Partner with designers, writers and digital marketers to ensure visual storytelling aligns with campaign strategy and goals.
  • Develop custom HTML/CSS components and templates for campaign themes and storytelling formats.
  • Organize video assets, ensure timely project delivery and manage approvals.
  • Manage and maintain digital video archives and file systems for ease of content reuse.
  • Upload and manage content in CMS platforms (e.g., , Cascade CMS, WordPress, or similar).
  • Provides assistance and training on photographic and multimedia equipment and related software to interns and staff as needed.
  • Implement updates to web pages for events, giving opportunities, alumni spotlights and donor recognition features.
  • Researches, recommends and utilizes new technologies for media and publications.
  • Maintains media equipment, facilities, supplies and archives.
