VP Fin & Acctg (Finance)

Hands-on executive to own Finance & Accounting end-to-end: monthly close, job-costing and margin integrity, multi-state tax compliance, cash & working-capital, budgeting/forecasting, and ERP/BI. Partners with the leadership team to drive profitable growth and discipline.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & LeadershipSet the finance roadmap; define KPIs and cadence (weekly ops, monthly financials, quarterly reviews).Support pricing governance, project ROI, and capital allocation; prepare board/lender packages and covenant reporting.Own insurance/risk (property, WC) and claim analytics.
Accounting Operations (GAAP) & CloseOwn a consistent 5-day monthly close with accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow; establish/maintain policies and internal controls.Coordinate audits/reviews; manage fixed assets and lease accounting.
Cost Accounting & Job CostingMaintain job cost ledger; set/refresh overhead and machine rates; track labor/material/overhead variances, PPV, scrap.Manage WIP and under/over-billings, revenue recognition per GAAP (e.g., percentage-of-completion/contract method as applicable).Lead post-job profitability reviews and margin-by-job/customer reporting.
Inventory AccountingEstablish costing method (standard/avg), cycle counts and annual physical; reconcile to GL; reserves and write-offs.
Tax Own multi-state sales/use and property/personal property tax: nexus monitoring, exemptions, filings; partner with external CPA as needed.
Cash & Working CapitalBuild a rolling 13-week cash forecast; oversee AR/AP, credit & collections, retainage, lien/notice compliance.Improve DSO/DPO/inventory turns through terms strategy and supplier/customer programs.
Budgeting, Forecasting & AnalyticsLead annual plan and monthly re-forecasts; scenario modeling (volume/mix, labor capacity, materials inflation).Track price-cost and margin bridge; deliver self-serve dashboards.
Systems, Data & BIOwn the finance footprint of the ERP/MRP (job setup, BOM/routings, labor postings, receipts/issues); drive master-data governance.Advance reporting using Excel/Power Query/Power Pivot/Power BI; automate close/ops reporting.
Team & OrgLead and develop AP/AR/Payroll/Cost (small team); recruit, coach, and cross-train; document SOPs to ensure coverage.
