Project Hydrogeologist (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a highly-skilled, detail-oriented, well-organized, and dependable groundwater scientist/engineer (Engineer, Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist) to support our growing community. The position requires a strong background in quantitative hydrogeology (i.e., mathematical interpretation hydrogeologic systems) to assist with a variety of groundwater remediation and water resources projects throughout the US and abroad. The successful candidate shall possess experience in programming/groundwater-related software proficiency as well as development and application of groundwater flow and solute transport models. The position requires excellent written and oral skills and may also include some level of task management.

Role accountabilities:

  • Quantitative/qualitative interpretation hydrogeologic systems including conceptual site model (CSM) and numerical flow and transport model development; application of analytical/numerical groundwater flow and transport models to support remedial/water resources investigations, conceptual remedial system/water supply design, remedial/water supply system performance evaluations, and system optimization; analytical calculations and water resource evaluations; remediation/supply well design; aquifer test design and analysis; statistical analysis of hydrogeologic data; preparation of high-end/effective visualization of CSM components and flow/transport modeling results; preparation of technical reports and presentations
  • Analysis of hydrologic/hydrogeologic data generated from site characterization, monitoring, and restoration activities including monitoring well data: water levels and water quality, geophysical investigations, tracer tests; interpretation and documentation of investigation results (i.e., interpretation of geologic depositional environments and hydrogeologic conditions); interpretation of pumping data (including aquifer tests); installation of soil borings and collection of soil and water samples (e.g., vertical aquifer profiling); monitoring/remediation well installation
  • Communicate and work closely with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Assist with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, proposals, and presentations
  • Production of figures, maps, and graphical summaries of data trends
  • Conducting project-related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)
  • Preparing periodic status/program reports

Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. This position may require travel; travel amount is anticipated to be 5-20%

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Hydrogeology
  • Bachelors degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Certifications/Licenses: obtained or able to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered/Professional Geologist (RG/PG)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office-based software programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), numerical/analytical groundwater modeling software/codes (e.g., MODFLOW/MODFLOW-USG/MODFLOW 6, Groundwater Vistas, Groundwater Desktop, and AQTESOLV) and data visualization programs (e.g., Grapher/Surfer, ArcGIS, Groundwater Desktop, and EVS/Leapfrog)

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of the environmental and water resources regulatory regime across the United States and having the 40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) Training (if applicable)

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80461 - $132761. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
