Academic Services Administrator (Finance)



Organizational Unit
The Department of Medical Education (DME) in the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is headed by Dr. Bryan Bognar, Chair & Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. Dr. Bognar is responsible for the oversight of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program and Graduate programs curriculum, all MCOM student services (Student Affairs, Admissions, Student Diversity, the Experiential Learning Center), the School of Physical Therapy, the Athletic Training Education Program, and the Physician Assistant program. The Chair/Vice Dean also works collaboratively with Graduate Medical Education (GME), Continuing Professional Development, and the Deans for the College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and College of Public Health to advance the education mission across the MCOM and USF Health. DME (including the MCOM student services) currently consists of 10 faculty members and 50 administrators / staff members. The primary clients for DME are the medical students, DPT students, the doctoral, post-doc / masters students, and the faculty / staff educators for the medical and graduate program curriculum. The department interacts with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and healthcare providers across USF Health, USF and other institutions.

Position Summary
The Academic Services Administrator acts as the primary administrator of program planning and academic activities for the preclinical curriculum. This position will report to the Director of Curriculum Management and is responsible for communicating initiatives and outcomes to the Directors and faculty. Faculty support includes assisting with curriculum and course development, preparing materials and assessments for evaluative purposes related to educational outcomes; writing reports and preparing presentations regarding the academic program; responsible for the administrative aspect of events and meetings. This person will have direct contact with faculty, staff and students and an extremely high level of professionalism and customer service is a must. Must be able to multi-task, ability to create high quality, professional written documentation and correspondence; have a high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize appropriately. Must be a team player and appreciate the everchanging environment and focus of work on a daily basis.

This is a full time position based at the Downtown Tampa Campuses.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Masters degree in education or a field of study related to the academic program, or a Bachelors degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of experience.

SB1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements:

  • Four years of direct experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree
  • Six years of direct experience may substitute for a master's degree

  • Provides academic administrative support to the pre-clinical curriculum by program by supporting instruction, including matters such as curriculum review, contributing toward content development in alignment with instructional and program objectives, analyzing and streamlining verbiage in course syllabus, developing and enhancing course rubrics, drafting course/module and session evaluations, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and trends relative to course and student feedback, drafting and producing reports for internal and external use, including accreditation reviews; having extensive knowledge of and administering academic policies and procedures; serving as liaison between the Directors, faculty, staff and students on a range of academic issues.

Project Administration
  • Ensures follow through on activities and completion of projects and attends meetings with the Director, faculty and staff.
  • Establishes project timelines and manages resources accordingly to meet or exceed program outcomes and objectives.
  • Researches and analyzes relevant data, develops solutions and communicates conclusions.
  • Serves as a resource and provides input to the Director of Curriculum Management on implementing or changing policies/procedures meet goals.

Responsible for the administration of courses with a primary focus on the second year.

Proctoring:

  • Responsible for assisting assessment efforts for the College of Medicine as assigned.

Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum Management or the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education. Apply
