Extraction Technician (Construction)



The Extraction Technician (ET) follows standard procedures to make bulk cannabis extracts and other products. The ET uses automated, semi-automated, and manually operated equipment to make cannabis extracts and related products. Maintenance, cleaning, and repair to the equipment and systems used is a major component of the work required. The ET will use traceability and manufacturing resource planning software systems to plan, track, and report on batches produced. The ET works on the extraction team and reports directly to the VP of Processing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:
• Preparation of cannabis materials for extraction.
• Operation and maintenance of extraction and post-processing equipment.
• Handling and packaging of bulk extracts for storage, sale, or finished goods.
• Receiving and managing raw materials inventory, including frozen cannabis.
• Remove and compost spent-materials.
• Thorough deep cleaning of equipment and workspaces.
• Maintaining clean and organized work areas.
• Preparation and send samples for lab testing and enter QC results into traceability system.
• Documentation of work, using company forms and computer systems.
• Use computer software and systems (MRP Easy, Trello, Cultivera, others) to accurately capture manufacturing data.
• Create and release new Production Tickets (Manufacturing Orders).
• Properly account for all inventory consumed and created.
• At times, assist with manufacturing, packaging, and fulfilment of final products.
• Equipment and process setup, and troubleshooting.
• Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives.

Education & Knowledge:
• High-school degree or equivalent required.
• Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and pass a background check.

Minimum Requirements:
• Have two (2) years of cannabis extraction experience.
• Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
• High-level of manual dexterity and visual acuity.
• Ability to closely follow procedures.
• Ability to lift and transport 50 lbs.
• Reliable, and always on time.
• Ability to accurately document work output.

The ideal candidate will:
• Be skilled with computer software.
• Have five (5) years of manufacturing or trades (or equivalent) experience.
• Have experience with hydrocarbon cannabis extraction.
• Have strong mechanical aptitude, including experience using tools to maintain, build or service equipment.
• Have experience working in a hazardous environment where flammable liquids, solvents, and pressurized vessels are used.
• Be willing and able to learn how to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
• Be able to prioritize and multitask in a face paced environment.
• Take pride in their work and share responsibility for the quality of the products produced.
• Be very detail oriented when it comes to weighing, measuring, and recording data.
• Have exceptional mechanical systems troubleshooting skills.
• Have familiarity with lean manufacturing.
• Understand cannabis processing and packaging operations.
• Have passion and take pride and ownership of their work in making exceptional cannabis extract products.

• Requires the ability to periodically lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach.
• Requires the ability to work inside a freezer (while wearing a freezer suit)
• Requires the ability to operate a personal computer, manufacturing equipment, etc.
• Requires the ability to read, write, communicate, and interpret information accurately in English.
• Requires the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• The employee must be willing and able to work in a freezer as cold as -40 degrees F while wearing an insulated suit.
