Senior Advanced Hardware Engineer (Finance)

Join a team that designs, develops, and integrates hardware that interfaces with highly complex software applications within Honeywell PSS/Voice R&D team located in Pittsburgh, PA. You will be an active and integral member of a team to achieve the completion of goals. You will also generate innovative solutions; trying different and novel ways to deal with problems and opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and support mobile and body worn electronic devices
  • Requirements and design specification selection
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze technical requirements
  • Component selection
  • Schematic capture and PCB/PCBA development
  • Support global certification of products
  • Document and execute functional and performance testing
  • Quality and field support of products
  • Perform failure analysis investigations of engineering and field returns
  • Work closely with outside design and manufacturing partners, managing the design process and ensuring a seamless transition to production
  • Proactively learning new technologies and areas of electronic design
  • Interfacing with contract manufacturers and internal supply chain functions to ensure design for manufacture is incorporated in products
  • Follow the Honeywell design and phase gate release process

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 10+ years of hardware engineering experience required
  • Minimum of 6+ years of mobile electronic device engineering experience required
  • Thorough understanding and vast experience with of a variety of hardware engineering concepts such as high-speed design, EMI prevention, noise suppression, PCB layout routing, ESD protection, power supply circuits, audio design and acoustics, battery technologies, and basic RF circuitry
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with various communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, I2S, SDIO, PCIe
  • Experience with wireless technologies (WLAN, NFC, and Bluetooth)
  • PCB Design experience using OrCAD / Cadence Allegro, Mentor graphics or similar
  • SPICE simulation experience or similar
  • Experience with hardware development processes and cradle to grave lifecycle
  • Thorough understanding of the manufacturing processes for electronic devices
  • Capability to complete demanding assignments by applying advanced hardware engineering methods and tools
  • Expert ability to troubleshoot and debug technical issues quickly
  • Experience with electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, and Power supplies
  • Experience with system-level testing and verification techniques, including test plan development, test execution, and test report generation
  • Experience managing external partners and suppliers such as JDM's or ODM's
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team (mechanical, embedded software, and application software teams)
  • Experience trouble shooting complex technical customer issues as part of a cross functional team
  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions while balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness in an ambiguous environment

WE VALUE
  • Programming experience in Pearl, Python, MatLab, C++ or similar
  • Experience with audio electronics including interfacing to speakers and microphone
  • Experience with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Device certification processes and requirements
  • Portable electronic device design experience with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth headset design experience
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver optimal solutions
  • Clearly and concisely convey subtle or complex messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Capability to follow guidelines and ensure efficiency on given project tasks.
