Operations Coordinator (1st Shift) (Finance)



Overview

We are seeking a full-time Operations Coordinator(1st Shift) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for organizing and coordinating associates and processes in designated area in accordance with departmental procedures while maintaining a safe and clean work environment in areas within Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates daily activities in area of responsibility
  • Responsible to follow all departmental procedures and for performing cycle counts as required
  • Ability to operate RF device to transact and move material as required
  • Crosstrains, as needed, to learn all department functions
  • Must meet quality and productivity metrics
  • Performs housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe work environment
  • Ability to accept responsibility for work assignments and job duties and to be held accountable for their successful completion
  • Complies with all safety standards and policies
  • Ability to work variable and flexible hours including overtime
  • Operates in fast-paced environment, resolves issues timely, and meets operational deadlines
  • Works with team members to correct the cause of the order and shipment delays as required
  • Compliance with HRD-003 (Garmin's Attendance Policy - only certain locations)
  • Must possess ability to bend, twist and lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility
  • Must possess the ability to operate equipment that is design rated for operators 300 pounds or less (Only Equipment Team)
  • Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards
  • Supports training of associates in accordance with department procedures
  • Ensures all quality procedures and requirements are performed correctly
  • Communicates with supervisor all workload activities and issues
  • Prioritizes workload in area
  • Communicates and resolve challenges by trouble shooting daily issues in area
  • Responsible for compliance with procedures and guidelines for reporting of safety incidents
  • A Coordinator may be certified on at least one piece of equipment
Distribution Floor Operations
  • Level loads material flow through the department
  • Communicates/requests materials and supplies to ensure product movement on a timely basis
  • Ability to safely/efficiently operate motorized material handling equipment such as a turret truck, reach truck, cherry pickers, counterbalance and pallet walkies
  • Examines, sorts, arranges, counts, stores, picks, packs, and ships items for storage/or shipment in accordance with procedures
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory, transactions, and material movement
  • Ensures First in/First Out (FIFO) and Last in/First Out (LIFO) policies are adhered to as defined in departmental procedures
  • Packs materials to ensure adequately delivery to internal/external customers
Raw Material Operations:
  • Pulls/audits material as required for KANBAN, shops order, moves order or sales order requirements
  • Issues and transacts material requested through material withdrawal forms
  • Receives, transacts and sorts inbound material
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory, transactions, and material movement
  • Ensures First in/First Out (FIFO) and Last in/First Out (LIFO) policies are adhered to as defined in departmental procedures
  • Packs materials to ensure adequate delivery to internal/external customers
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate motorized material handling equipment such as a turret truck, reach truck, Order pickers, counterbalance and pallet walkies
  • Follows Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) guidelines for static sensitive materials
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate the OSR, picking, checking and decant stations
Order Dispatch Operations
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite and email to perform daily tasks
  • Uses Oracle to perform daily tasks
  • Serves as point of contact for the #OPS - SHIPPING email process
  • Communicates with various Garmin departments about order and shipping status, and answers questions
  • Compiles daily metrics and distributes to internal/external departments
  • Compiles and works the pick status report daily
  • Ability to balance figures; collect, compile, enter, analyze data.
  • Assists with training and communication of problem orders and shipments
  • Troubleshoots and identifies root cause of order and shipment delays and implements corrective actions
  • Operates in fast-paced environment, resolves issues in a timely manner, and meets operational deadlines
  • Reviews and maintains all past due orders and work with the shipping, picking, cycle count, order administrative, international trade compliance, and finance departments
  • Serves as back up for various areas of responsibilities within the Order Dispatch department
Distribution Floor Operations (Equipment Team)

  • Examines, sorts, arranges, counts, stores, picks, packs, and ships items for storage/or shipment in accordance with procedures
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory, transactions, and material movement
  • Ensures First in/First Out (FIFO) and Last in/First Out (LIFO) policies are adhered to as defined in departmental procedures
  • Packs materials to ensure adequate delivery to internal/external customers
  • Complies with all equipment safety standards and policies
  • The ability to safely and efficiently operate at least three pieces of motorized material handling equipment such as a turret truck, reach truck, cherry pickers, counterbalance and pallet walkies and compliance with procedures and guidelines for reporting safety incidents is key to this role.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a minimum of 1 year warehouse, manufacturing or related experience
  • Must possess demonstrated experience in coordinator, lead, supervisory and/or leadership
  • Must possess previous equipment operation experience
  • Must possess proficiency using personal computers
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be detail & team-oriented, work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Must be fluent speaking and writing in English and understand basic math concepts
  • Requires the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility
Equipment Team:
  • Requires the ability to operate equipment that is design rated for operators 300 pounds or less
  • Must possess a minimum of 1-year previous equipment operation experience
Desired Qualifications
  • Excellent safe operating record
  • Previous equipment certification
  • Database experience
  • Previous electrical pallet truck
  • Previous Oracle experience
  • Previous Kpak experience
  • Previous picking and shipping experience
  • Previous electronics manufacturing experience
