Job Description
Primary Function of Position

The Global Risk Manager is a key member of the Risk Management function that oversees global insurance programs and structures for Intuitive. In addition, the Risk Management team partners across the organization to drive cross-functional risk identification, mitigation, and business continuity planning efforts.

The Global Risk Manager reports to the Director, Global Risk Management but works closely with the Corporate Treasurer on organizational initiatives. This position assists with overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the function.

The Global Risk Manager is a direct contact for external service providers including insurance brokers, consultants, insurance carriers, and third-party claims administrators as well as a key business partner for internal stake-holders globally.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Risk Management function including policy administration, issuance of certificates of insurance, and ensuring timely assistance with stake-holders.
  • Conduct reviews of insurance, indemnity, and hold harmless provisions in contracts and leases on behalf of the organization; partner with critical stake-holders to ensure alignment.
  • Ensure prompt review, payment, and allocation of invoices across internal departments.
  • Partner with Director, Global Risk Management and Corporate FP&A on managing functional budget.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes for insurance brokers and related vendors; co-manage relationships broker and insurance carrier.
  • Oversee the management of claims processing and identify areas of improvement in claims processing.
  • Coordinate and examine claims data to help insurance programs and risk retention strategies.
  • Run underwriter meetings, partnering with internal stake-holders on renewals and exploring new coverage options.
  • Streamline processes, refine and/or create standard operating procedures ("SOPs"), maintain departmental manuals, such as playbooks for contract reviews, claims management, and policy renewals.
  • Prepare reports and gather data to ensure compliance with state regulations for workers' compensation plans and other insurance regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate Property Engineering site visits globally and work with internal stake-holders on prioritizing and closing loss control/risk recommendations.
  • Offer training and awareness workshops on Policies and Coverages for stake-holders.
  • Develop strategic initiatives for managing and reducing company's total cost of risk. This involves developing the knowledge / skills / abilities to align workload with the task of reducing the total cost of risk.
  • Cultivate overarching strategic goals and targets.
  • Autonomously run initiatives and/or projects to drive organizational efficiency and risk management.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant corporate insurance experience required.
  • Comfortable interacting and leading meetings with executives and/or major stake-holders.
  • Excellent human relations, statistical, problem-solving, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and communication skills required.
  • Excellent coordinator, leadership (group and cross functional), and organizational skills required.
  • Sense of extreme ownership with a team-first mindset; capable of working both unsupervised and collaboratively within a team.
  • High agility with proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional travel to other sites may be necessary to drive cross-functional coordination.
  • This role requires working onsite in our Sunnyvale, CA office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week

Required Education and Training
  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent with focus of study in Finance, Risk Management, or Insurance.
  • Certification as an ARM or CPCU preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience working in Life Science Industry or a large international organization
  • 10 years of relevant industry experience preferred.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $129,600 USD - $186,400 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $110,100 USD - $158,500 USD
