JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a well-rounded Senior Azure Data Engineer who is equally comfortable architecting enterprise-grade data solutions and engaging directly with business stakeholders to understand their needs. This role blends deep technical expertise in data modeling, ETL, and modern data platforms with a strong sense of business partnership. The ideal candidate will help drive our BI modernization initiatives using Microsoft Fabric and Azure technologies while maintaining a strong connection with business teams to ensure value-driven solutions.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Business & Functional Engagement

  • Collaborative Requirements Gathering: Participate in business discussions and project kickoffs to define clear, actionable data requirements.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams; provide regular updates, uncover gaps, and align on priorities.
  • Solutioning & Advisory: Translate business challenges into scalable data solutions; propose architecture and transformation approaches that add business value.
  • Domain Knowledge: Leverage your understanding of finance, sales, inventory, or similar domains to guide functional decisions and enhance data usability.

Technical Development

  • Data Modeling: Design and implement logical and physical data models that support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
  • ETL Development: Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Azure Data Factory, Dataflows, Fabric Pipelines, or Databricks.
  • Coding: Write clean, efficient SQL and Spark code for data ingestion, transformation, and automation.
  • Cloud & Modern Stack Expertise: Design solutions using Azure services such as Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory, SQL DB, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Visualization Support: Collaborate with reporting teams to deliver data models that support Power BI, Tableau, or other BI tools.

Process Improvement

  • Technical Direction and Guidance: Dive into the technical details of implementations and provide feedback to the team to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Code Review and Best Practices: Review changes and ensure adherence to best practices, fostering a culture of excellence in coding standards.
  • Project Prioritization: Contribute to project prioritizations based on interactions with business stakeholders, ensuring that the most critical projects are addressed first.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education 

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Relevant Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data engineering.
  • Strong experience in data modeling and ETL processes.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership and guidance.
  • Ability to design effective solutions and prioritize projects.
  • Flexibility to handle ad hoc support requests.
  • Advanced Hands-on SQL and Python knowledge and experience working with relational databases for data querying and retrieval.
  • Knowledge and experience of building data lake and enterprise analytics solutions with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database and other Azure services.

Additional

  • Data Modeling tools (e.g. Erwin, Visio) knowledge
  • Experience with SAP HANA data modelling
  • Exposure to MS Fabric implementation
  • Knowledge and experience with other cloud platforms like AWS and Google.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with Power BI / Tableau for reporting and data visualization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$110,240.00 - $165,360.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
