Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add an Import / Export Manager located in Salt Lake City

Reporting to the Logistics Manager. The Import/Export Manager involves providing operational expertise to enhance the efficiency and cost effectiveness of logistics department, including the knowledge and application of international incoterms, freight rate structure, ocean, air, ground, rail and multimodal. HTS classification expertise, ECCN License designation country of origin valuation, Shipper Export declaration, DOC, BXA and ITAR regulations, Import & Export process knowledge plus bonded and FTZ expertise, ensuring legal compliance within government rules, regulations and platforms.

What a typical day looks like:

  • International and domestic rate quotes per request by site management
  • Prepare rate comparisons between carriers
  • Track international shipments and may track domestic shipments
  • Provide POD's for shipments
  • May research freight issues
  • File or assist with filing of freight claims for international and domestic shipments
  • Maintain and update carrier routing guide
  • Train various site departments on usage of carrier routing guide
  • Arrange expedited shipments by request to meet customer needs
  • Coordinate international truck load shipments
  • Audit domestic and international inbound carrier freight invoices
  • Address issues regarding freight invoices with carrier and payment company
  • Identify ways for freight and cost savings
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of Import/Export regulations and Administration regulations.
  • Develops and maintains policy and procedures to ensure Custom regulations compliance is adhered to.
  • Maintain accurate Import/Export Compliance within the site for all international shipments.
  • Implement and/or maintain record-keeping system to comply with U. S. Customs.
  • Perform regular audits as deemed mandatory by Corporate Flex with several departments to identify, disclose and work to fix any potential Import /Export Compliance concerns.
  • Make entry adjustments with U.S. Customs when necessary.
  • Ensure US customs guidelines are followed by vendors, purchasing, broker, site logistics and other responsible parties
  • Attend Import Compliance Seminars for updates on latest customs rules and regulations
  • Classifying importing items with correct HTS
  • Ensure FDA, FCC, US Goods return forms and Fumigation Certificates are provided and on file for parts requiring this information
  • Audit import documents for international shipments cleared through US customs
  • Notify members of the site's Compliance team should a discrepancy in the audit be noted and drive escalation as appropriate to resolve issue
  • File Import Documents
  • Maintain and update part number database with most up to date HTS, COO and OGA information
  • Maintain COO database used to identify non-compliant vendors
  • Ensure proper Import/Export documentation and procedures are maintained in accordance with Customs standards and requirements.
  • Advise company on Customs requirements and informs other departments of any issues that may arise affecting their operation.
  • Recommends corrective action required to ensure all Import/Export transactions adhere to Custom compliance.
  • Ensures and prepares documentation required by Customs to import/export commodities.
  • Work on tariff calculation and implication for current business or analysis for future projects

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and extensive knowledge of purchasing policies and practices.
  • 5-7 years of import/export experience.
  • APICS certification is preferred
  • Experience in customer facing role
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Experience working in a high volume and fast paced environment
  • As is determined by CBP, must be US based, a legal resident, and not on any Visa, due to CBP regulations for appropriate access to government platforms and future state of SLC as an FTZ.
