Maintenance General Level I 2nd M-TH 2:45PM - 1AM (Food Services)



Maintenance General Level I

Summary:

Perform general and specific maintenance. Maintain physical plant and plant grounds.  Repair equipment and machines to keep production running smoothly.                           

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 
  • Minimum two-year prior experience in industrial general maintenance. 
  • CMMS / PLC experience is preferred.

Communication Requirements/Skills:

Able to communicate verbally and/or in writing as to work requirements, work in progress, and/ or work completion. Communicates verbally and/or in writing with other workers, members of supervision, and others as necessary.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate mill, lathe, grinder, power hand tools, forklifts, and hand tools.
  • Build new equipment, racks and crates as needed.
  • Problem solves equipment failures on equipment located internally and externally.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all machines and equipment.
  • Perform electrical work as needed.
  • Clean up around buildings and properties.
  • Address safety concerns throughout plant, including maintaining safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, eye wash stands, etc.)
  • Order materials when needed and maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies.
  • Clean molds on a regular maintenance schedule.
  • Drive van, truck, etc. as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Supervision:

Received:     General.  Close/specific with special job/work assignments projects.    

Given:          None.  May assist in training new or transferred employees.

Other Skills:

Mathematical Ability:

Able to use math to add, subtract, multiply or divide and may work with fractions, decimals, or percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

Able to follow simple instructions and/or directions.  May require ability to decide on a course/sequence of action. Must have continuous visual and mental attention during the operation of equipment and/or machines.

Licenses/Certifications:

Forklift and scissor lift certification required or ability to obtain. 

Valid Driver's License per the guidelines of the Company Fleet Policy.

Physical Demands:

Activity could be on the job is 1/3 to more than 2/3 of the work day…standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing or balancing, talking, listening, taste/smell, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lifting 10lbs to more than 100lbs as needed.

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point) 
  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
  • Hand-eye coordination

Work Environment:

Environmental conditions will vary based on assigned tasks and may include 1/3 to more than 2/3 of the work day; wet, human, working near mechanical parts, work in high or precarious (various), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat and/or cold, risk of electrical shock, work with explosive(s) materials, risk of radiation, and vibration. There will also be moderate to loud noise levels.

Additional Information:

  • Generally responsible for the safety of own work area and for safety of other areas as requested and as described in job description. 
  • Safety shoes required. 
  • Earplugs and safety glasses required for some functions of job. 
  • May be required to respond to equipment/building issues during off scheduled shift hours.
