Position Information

Position Overview

The Developer Evangelist is responsible for promoting the use of HealthStream's suite of APIs, engaging with customer's business unit and IT development resources to identify integration opportunities that improve workflows and efficiency. The Developer Evangelist combines a deep technical understanding of HealthStream's API capabilities with excellent communication skills to drive customer API adoption and promote the use of HealthStream's APIs across the broader developer community. This role works closely with customer success and account management teams to engage customers and develop deep customer knowledge and relationships that allow them to promote customer specific solutions that leverage HealthStream integrations.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.

  • Partners with Customer Success to develop an understanding of customer's workflows and the customer systems that support them.

  • Through a solid working knowledge of how customers utilize HealthStream's SaaS application suite, identifies UI based administrative tasks that can be automated through API integrations.

  • Organizes and participates in developer community activities that promote understanding of HealthStream's API integration capabilities

  • Generates awareness of HealthStream's platform technology amongst the broader developer community, partnering with third party developers who will build extended functionality on the platform.

  • Performs an active role in recruiting and engaging technology partners who can build on the HealthStream platform to create new products and services to benefit mutual customers.

  • Develops a deep understanding of HealthStream's API specifications and capabilities and applies that knowledge to real-world customer use cases.

  • Drive awareness of HealthStream's API capabilities through development and delivery of compelling presentations, sample workflows, and developer community engagement.

  • Develops and presents proposed customer specific integration workflows using visual tools such as PowerPoint and Miro.

  • Collaborates with customer's IT resources to define API workflows that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

  • Creates Postman collections that can be shared with customers to solve for common API workflows.

  • Collaborates with Product Marketing by leveraging technical expertise to co-develop thought leadership articles, sales collateral, and customer enablement materials that translate complex API capabilities into clear business-relevant value propositions aligned with market trends and customer point points.

  • Brings voice of the customer feedback to product leadership to assist in prioritizing future enhancements to HealthStream APIs.

  • Collaborate with an organization-wide and cross-functional team of employees who work within a matrix environment for assigned products

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)

  • 3+ years of experience in software development, technical consulting, or developer relations

  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and experience building or integrating with APIs in real-world applications

  • Experience partnering with Customer Success, Sales Engineering, or Implementation teams to drive product adoption

  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and experience building or integrating with APIs in real-world applications

  • Has experience participating in and leading developer communities, e.g. Discord, Slack, GitHub, StackOverflow, StackExchange, Reddit, etc.

  • Experience working with tools like Postman and Swagger

Qualifications

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Successfully uses technical applications for business purposes (Salesforce, Microsoft)

  • Strong public speaking, presentation, or workshop delivery skills - able to represent the company at webinars, customer events, or industry forums

  • Proven ability to identify and advocate for automation or integration opportunities within business workflows

  • Plans and executes own activities with generally-defined goals and minimal supervision

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable building relationships with technical stakeholders, including IT leaders

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value for non-technical audiences

  • Ability to create technical documentation, tutorials, and sample code to support external developers

  • Passion for continuous learning and a customer-first mindset

  • Critical Thinking - Using sound judgment, logic, and common sense to identify efficient and effective ways of approaching problems or new initiatives

  • Adaptability - Being flexible and continuing to function effectively during times of change
