Analytics Student Assistant (Finance)



PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This is an opportunity to work with seasoned Information Technology Analytics professionals on projects to provide client value involving a wide range of data domains (and processes) that enable a data-driven culture at USF. This will involve Subject Matter Experts throughout the university, following agile/SAFe methodology (including project zero-planning, Program Increment planning, sprints, backlog refinements, sprint retrospectives, client reviews, and support), often partnering with other IT groups on security, networking, infrastructure, and applications, and using current and leading-edge tools such as Microsoft Fabric, PowerBI, Azure-Synapse, SSIS, Git, and JIRA throughout all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.

  • Schedule: Hybrid. Fairly flexible as long as available for most team meetings, e.g. daily standups, bi-weekly planning, and retrospective meetings.
  • Work Days: Monday - Friday
  • Hours Per Week: 20
  • Shift Hours: 8AM - 5PM

Must be current USF student during the appointed semester. Strong problem-solving skills and growth mindset. Good communications, organizational, interpersonal (teamwork/collaboration), and Microsoft-Office skills. Good SQL query skills for data analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
\n
Passion for empowering others to make data-driven decisions. Experience data modeling, visualizing, and interpretating. Experience across the Software Development Lifecycle, including source code and quality control. Experience with financial, HR, research, and/or academic data domains (and processes). Experience using agile/SAFe methodology (including project zero-planning, Program Increment planning, sprints, backlog refinements, sprint retrospectives, client reviews, and support). Work with the Analytics and Data Management Solutions group to design, implement and support data analytics products that enable USF client technologists and/or modernize infrastructure (and reduce technical debt), including data literacy and data governance. Provide basic skills support and fresh academic knowledge to our seasoned IT Analytics professionals to increase our bandwidth, diversity, and creativity across a range of client-focused projects.
