Global Real Estate Manager (Finance)

Role/ Department: Global Real Estate Manager/Corporate Real Estate
Responsible for managing the global real estate function, comprising transaction management, lease administration, portfolio management, go to market strategies and execution, governance and oversight, and also a shared service function.
Role is responsible for managing small team of 6 direct reports and the role reports into the global head of real estate, project management and workplace strategy. Portfolio comprises over 4MM sq ft of real estate across 20+ countries, predominantly commercial office portfolio. campaigns and programs.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
• Manages the global real estate function. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training development needs, and establishes performance standards for the unit.
• Oversees the process of acquiring/disposing of real property assets, includes hiring market consultants, attorneys, environmental consultants, etc. Oversees the real estate transaction management process.
• Accountable for Business unit liaison and development of a specific city's real estate strategy and working with regional real estate manager who are responsible for delivering on the strategies.
• Oversees lease administration function.
• Responsible for creating strong business case for strategies and individual transactions.
• Responsible for the vendor management of outsourced brokerage, and lease administration vendor
• Developing go to market strategies with business leaders for strategic direction of business function activities.
• Accountable and responsible for oversight and governance of the function including risk mitigation strategies.
• Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
• Responsible for inclusion of internal stakeholders such as internal clients, SMES in facilities management, finance and project management to align on recommended outcomes.
• Providing ongoing real estate expertise support during the term of lease arrangement to support local workplace service managers in property management activity
• Providing reporting and compliance supporting internal audit and governance
Skills/ Qualifications:
• A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience in real estate development or property management is required. Minimum 10 years' experience required in corporate real estate within the office sector.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• In-depth real estate industry and property management knowledge is required. Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise
• Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
• Organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to plan own activities, the activities of others and prioritizing work appropriately with minimal guidance
• Knowledge of laws and regulations related to the real estate industry is required to acquire and dispose of real property assets.
• Knowledge of financial and budget accounting required to ensure project budgets are met. Negotiation and analytical skills are required to negotiate contracts.
• Knowledge of business strategy development is necessary to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment. Leadership and organizational skills are required to direct the activities for the multiple units.
• Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.
• Seasoned leader with extensive business experience, and broad functional expertise, with focus on proactive strategic leadership
Working Model: Hybrid (#LI-Hybrid)

Salary Range:
$137,400 - 240,400 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
