RFP Strategy and Operations Training Advisor - Remote (Finance)



The RFP Training Advisor within the U.S. Employer Project Management Team is an integral position that fosters growth and develops knowledge across all RFP-focused roles, including Presale and RFP Q&A teams. This individual demonstrates a superior knowledge of Cigna's business, segments, selling strategies, and proposal processes, acting as a coach and subject matter expert while also facilitating advanced-level trainings in partnership with other experts at all levels as needed to achieve deliverables.

The RFP Training Advisor is accountable for educating and mentoring new and experienced RFP staff and also partners closely with peers and management to drive change and manage process improvement projects. The RFP Training Advisor owns the planning and delivery of ongoing trainings regarding new Cigna products, processes, and strategies, as well as targeted removal of any widespread knowledge gaps that may be identified as trends by management.

Responsibilities of the RFP Training Advisor include:

EDUCATING AND MENTORING RFP STAFF

  • Develops and facilitates new hire and existing staff training programs across all roles within US Commercial RFP Strategy & Operations. Fosters the development of the experienced, front-line RFP staff's critical thinking, writing, and proposal project management skills when managing complexproposals
  • Creates and updates training materials that reflect current products, processes, and segment-specific information as well as identified improvements based on feedback.
  • Manages new hire performance during the training program to ensure learning goals and expectations are understood and met, meeting regularly with management as needed.
  • Effectively communicates feedback on new hire training performance to management team, including individual and aggregate learning status and any additional training opportunities.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Cigna products and services, adapting training curriculum to the needs of each training class to ensure engagement and understanding based on the audience.
  • Provides hands-on guidance and coaching to develop new hire consultants to the point that they can demonstrate they can independently manage the proposal process.
  • Provides direct mentorship through live case work, offering positive reinforcement and constructive feedback through reverse job shadowing to ensure each new hire achieves critical milestones in the learning process.
  • Maintains a consistent feedback loop and effectively communicates feedback to fellow trainers and management team, including learning status, concerns, opportunities and next steps.
  • Conducts reviews of case work for new hire trainees prior to release to customer, ensuring accuracy, consistency and adherence to SOPs and guidelines.
  • Utilizes trend results to suggest continuous improvement opportunities to be addressed through coaching and mentoring.
  • Supports good decisions and results through effective coaching and support of knowledge, skill set, resources, and applications of technical workflows, processes and tools.
  • Directly involved in completing operational reviews and providing expertise and guidance on technical or procedural issues during live case mentoring.
  • Efficiently and effectively transitions new hires into a position of independence within their respective teams.

LEADING IMPROVEMENTS & DRIVING POSITIVE CHANGE

  • Continuously seeks to drive efficiencies in the training process to maximize the value of these resources to improve results.
  • Partners with management and team leads to address any current or new product and program training needs based on any gaps or trends identified through front-line proposals managed.
  • Supports, educates and reinforces the workflows, processes, tools for experienced front-line employees for complex proposals and any new products/programs.
  • Demonstrates direct support for any training initiatives and improvement projects being led within the team as well as more broadly across RFP Strategy & Operations.
  • Enhances training curriculum to address product enhancements and process improvements.
  • Maintains proficiency in various RFP roles to provide immediate assistance to RFP teams in support of core business. Critical support may include leading live RFP work as needed.
  • Leads project work that aligns with organizational goals and enhances processes, people, or products, ensuring the timely completion of project deliverables within establishedtimelines.
  • Consistently makes recommendations to management regarding the solution to issues with process or improvements towards supporting overall business needs, remaining involved in solution creation as needed through testing, tracking, and implementation.
  • Demonstrates consistent ongoing customer focus, including by embracing the role of the proposal as a selling document and finding ways to improve selling techniques through the art of completing quality proposals.

  • Proficiency in training design and delivery.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet timelines within a fast-paced environment.

  • Self-driven and takes initiative
  • Able to operate independently with minimal direction from management.
  • Open to stepping out of your comfort zone to work on something new.

  • Able to lead and support improvement projects as needed.
  • Bachelor Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Travel up to 10% Nationally

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 82,900 - 138,100 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
