Your Role: Senior Director - Operational Excellence, Engineering and Maintenance
As the Senior Director - Operational Excellence, Engineering and Maintenance at Clinton Laboratories, you will provide technical oversight and strategic leadership across engineering, maintenance, reliability, process automation, and capital project delivery. You will also lead the site's Operational Excellence program, driving lean transformation, productivity, and business continuity while serving on the plant lead team.
Your Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and oversight of all engineering functions including preventive and corrective maintenance programs, equipment reliability initiatives, process engineering support, automation upgrades, and capital project execution to ensure long-term operational readiness and compliance with regulatory standards
Drive site-wide productivity improvements by developing and executing cGMP compliance initiatives, lean manufacturing transformations, and cost-reduction programs that directly support expansion projects, recapitalization efforts, and continuous site transformation goals
Lead development, coaching, and succession planning for future leaders by managing performance reviews, mentoring across functions, and ensuring team members have the skills, training, and resources to deliver against safety, quality, and productivity objectives
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, global best practices, HSE regulations, and business processes by managing risk assessments, facility master planning, and ensuring all engineering activities align with Elanco corporate policies and external regulatory requirements
Oversee strategic and business planning processes including annual cost savings initiatives, capital planning cycles, and site-wide continuous improvement efforts to ensure strong alignment with financial targets, customer service expectations, and long-term site sustainability
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent work experience)
Required Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in engineering, maintenance, or operations in a regulated manufacturing environment, including at least 7 years of people leadership with proven responsibility for site-level strategy and cross-functional influence
Skills: Strong strategic planning, people development, and cross-functional leadership capabilities
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):
Experience implementing digital engineering or operational solutions
Statistical analysis capabilities for data-driven decision-making
Proven track record driving large-scale lean manufacturing initiatives
Experience with capital planning and facility master planning
Demonstrated ability to deliver significant cost savings initiatives
Additional Information:
Travel: Up to 10% annually (domestic and international as required)
Location: Clinton, IN Manufacturing Site - Onsite with participation in site governance and plant leadership team
